Representatives from Tongji University and its German partner universities gathered for a meeting at Bingen UAS. Together they discussed how to further develop the double degree and foster exchange between the two countries.
Thanks to our cooperation with Tongji University, students from Bingen can travel to the metropolis of Shanghai for one year and acquire a double degree there. First, they study one semester at the Chinese-German University of Applied Sciences (CDHAW) at Tongji University. Next, they get a taste of what it is like to work in Chinese industry for six months while preparing their bachelor’s thesis. After completing mandatory German-language classes, students from Shanghai in turn can spend a year in Germany, gaining insight into studies and practice relevance here. This approach makes it possible to obtain a German-Chinese double degree in mechatronics, automotive engineering, industrial engineering or facility management. This successful model was launched in Bingen in 2008.
For the partner universities, the cooperation focuses in particular on the extensive practical component of the studies. For the guests who organize the exchange in the field of vehicle technology, this meant that a visit to the vehicle lab on Bingen’s campus was also on the agenda.
