Emergency and support grants for international students

All students at Bingen University of Applied Sciences should, as far as possible, be given the same opportunities to succeed in their studies.

Emergency grants or financial assistance are provided to support students who find themselves in financial hardship. Such hardship may arise for a wide variety of reasons: the loss of a part-time job, parental unemployment, accumulated debt or rent arrears, or macroeconomic crises.

Applications for emergency financial assistance can be submitted throughout the year. However, only limited funds are available.

Details

As only limited funding is available, a selection will be made from amongst the applicants. A selection panel will decide on the allocation of emergency grants, financial assistance and scholarships.

Please note that only complete application documents will be submitted to the selection committee for consideration. You should therefore check carefully that you have submitted all the required documents.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of, amongst other things, their social and financial circumstances as well as their academic achievements, and selection is always subject to the availability of funding.

The aim is to give all students an equal chance of academic success. Scholarship recipients are therefore always selected on the basis of the applicants’ individual circumstances.

Depending on the circumstances and the availability of funding, a grant of EUR 1,000, 750 or 500 may be awarded.

  1. Personal details must be accurate and complete.
  2. The required documents (academic records, financial circumstances where applicable, and a letter of motivation) must be sent in full and in good time to the person responsible for the grant.
  3. Any changes to your personal or financial circumstances (e.g. completion of your degree, taking up employment) must be reported immediately to the person responsible for the grant.

Applications for emergency assistance for single parents and for foreign students in need can be made at any time. Please therefore check carefully that you have submitted all the necessary documents.

Processing time: approx. 20 working days (longer processing times are possible from time to time).

Please refrain from making enquiries by telephone regarding processing times.

If your application is successful, the scholarship holder will be sent a letter of acceptance or a scholarship agreement. This document sets out the conditions under which the financial support is granted and the obligations incumbent upon the scholarship holder.

What financial support and scholarships are available?

Bingen University of Applied Sciences provides international students with financial support in the form of emergency grants, financial assistance and scholarships. These funds are provided by the Rhineland-Palatinate Scholarship Foundation.

Financial support is normally granted only once. In certain circumstances, it may be possible to receive support on more than one occasion.

Every application received for emergency financial assistance, grants and/or scholarships is carefully assessed. All students are treated equally during the selection process.

Funding is always subject to the availability of funds. There is no legal entitlement to financial support.

Bingen University of Applied Sciences aims to enable students to focus on their studies despite financial difficulties.

This emergency financial assistance is aimed at international students who, whilst studying at Bingen University of Applied Sciences, are single parents looking after one or more children. International students who have parental responsibility for one or more children are therefore eligible to apply.

Emergency assistance for single parents is intended to help them overcome short-term financial difficulties through no fault of their own.

This emergency financial assistance is intended for international students in need (foreign students studying in Germany, BA) who find themselves in financial difficulty through no fault of their own.

They are intended to help bridge short-term financial difficulties that are beyond one’s control.

The application must be accompanied by bank statements for the last three months.
